About me
I’m Marinela de Nascimento, an Angolan visual artist who grew up in Koningslo and is now based in Brussels. As a kid, I always dreamed of becoming an artist. After years of hesitation, I began sharing some of my work on social media and was thrilled by the positive responses. Seeing how my art inspires people continues to motivate me to keep creating.
My style is inspired by the contrast between contemporary life and the ancestral echoes of Africa. It unfolds as a trippy fusion of dream logic, tribal rhythms, spiritual folklore and cracked-open childhood memories reimagined in electric colours. I like to think of my creations as “visual playgrounds,” where the untamed energy of the subconscious runs wild guided by the uninhibited voice of my inner child.
Through this journey I explore themes of identity, freedom and that feeling of belonging and not belonging anywhere and nowhere. Each piece is a spiritual window into my creative world. I am deeply thankful for the belief and support of those who are walking this path with me. I wouldn’t be here without them, without you !
